Name that Gammons Baby

It's been fun to go back through some of our pictures to see who Nathan looks like.  Just for fun, let's do a quiz.  Can you name the following Gammons babies?  Please submit your guesses in the comments.  Huge prizes for the winners.

Nathan has been a joy and since we got Amanda all healed up, he has been an easy baby. He loves to be held and loves his siblings.  He's cho chweet.

Just like her mom

The question I get whenever we have a new baby is, "Who do you think he/she looks like?"  I don't really like this question.  I always feel like the answer is, "He looks like himself."  Then once in a while we'll come across a picture of Amanda or me or Tricia or Joe or Gregg and say, "That's just what Ben/Caleb/Nathan look like."

Last night we found this picture.

Look like anyone else you know?

I told Lucy this morning that I thought she looked like her mommy.  I told her that someday she'll grow up to be just as pretty as her mommy is.

TIMBER!

I was up early this morning.  I went out to the woods.  There are few things that I enjoy more than being outside.  There was a big dead old oak tree in our woods that I thought I should take down.  This is my first large tree felling.  With some videos on Youtube and watching John Parker do it last week, I felt pretty sure about what I was doing.  Cut the wedge, did the back cut and down it came.  When Matt woke up, he came out.  I showed him what I'd done.  "Awesome!," was the first thing he said.  It's good when I get that kind of response from one of my kids.

Matthew turns 7

Matthew, Matthew, Matthew!  You are still our fair haired boy.  We celebrate seven wonderful years of life that God has given you and look forward to many more.

You'd rather be outside than anywhere else.  You love your brothers and love to be with them.  But more than any of our other kids, you're completely fine with being by yourself.  Your sister is one of your best friends and she thinks you hung the moon.  I love being with you.  You are kindhearted and tender.  You're the life of the party in the boys room.  We often have to scream down the hall, "Matthew, be quiet.  It's time to go to sleep."

I am praying that God continues to draw you to himself and strengthens your desire to be more like him.  Happy Birthday, buddy boy.

10 Years of Benjamin Donald

Ten years ago, we brought a little baby back to the residence hall at Calvin College.  He screamed nonstop for the first few weeks.  When ever he wasn't eating, his little stomach was gurgling and he was howling.  Once we got him on formula though, he changed over night.

Over the past ten years, he has grown into a wonderful young man.  He is really beginning to own who he is and it is a ton of fun to watch.  I have watched him recently really take on the role of oldest and most responsible in the family.  He is a lot like his dad, which I have apologized to him for more than once.

I am looking forward to how God draws you deeper and deeper into his love.  I pray regularly, like Paul did, "that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."
Ephesians 3:16-19

We love you, Benjamin.
